STOCK UPDATE - (29 November 2011) Nextgen stocks will be available from early 2012 - the casket has been redisigned to look the same, yet with less fragile corners and easy-fit lid. Manufacturing hold-ups of the base materials is slowing us down, but we're almost there.. We recommend the Conifer as an alternative yet similar shape.
SUITABLE FOR NATURAL BURIAL
TenderRest caskets are accepted at natural burial cemeteries across NZ. Makara and New Plymouth natural burials sites require certification of caskets - the full Deco range and the Conifer caskets are 'certified'.
SUITABLE FOR CREMATION
The Conifer and Nextgen are wooden caskets, and so burn like all other wooden caskets. The Deco, with paperboard wrap, has been tested in cremators, and judged as meeting the required standards for cremation by Wellington Regional Council.
We have had the ash content of the Deco's paperboard tested by Wellington's Crown Research Laboratories - CRL Energy Ltd. The test results have been presented to Mr Ron Pilgrim, consultant to the industry and the 'certifier' of crematoria on behalf of regional councils in the Lower North Island. Mr Pilgrim has stated that burning paperboard will pose no issue to a cremator.
The Deco will produce slightly more ash than a customwood casket. There are no issues with early combustion or acrid smoke as with other 'cardboard' caskets that have been previously offered in NZ.
WE SELL THROUGH FUNERAL DIRECTORS, NOT DIRECT TO THE PUBLIC
TenderRest are often asked by Funeral Directors whether we supply direct to the public. We don't - we prefer to supply through a funeral director. We do recieve many direct public enquiries about our caskets - asking about models, prices and options. Our standard response is that we'll happily supply through a funeral director. Theoretically, only in cases where a family is arranging everything themselves will we supply directly - this has not yet happened. We are often asked about pricing - in response we'll state the RRP. Please don't hesitiate to contact us if you have thoughts or feedback, or to be listed on our Stockists page.
